A new video, divided in two parts to start a new series where i would like to show you our flying sites, with classical routes and their particularities.

I start from my home site on the italian\slovenian border with its triangle flight from Lijak toKovk, Nanos and back.

My intention was to put the original language clip with an option for english subtitles..... but unfortunately, Vimeo doesn't support subtitles... :-( I'm sorry... maybe in the future Vimeo will upgrade....

PART 1

PT. 1 Percorsi in delta nell'Alpe Adria - Lijak-Kovk-Nanos e ritorno (ITA/SLO) from Davide F.C. on Vimeo.

Video lungo per presentare zone di volo in delta. Comincio col farvi vedere la mia zona di volo abituale, in Slovenia, a ridosso del confine italiano. Il percorso pedemontano comprende il monte Lijak, il Kovk, ed il Nanos. Un triangolo di una novantina di kilometri che poi può essere esteso sui vari lati con delle varianti. In questa parte del video si vede l'andata dal Lijak al Kovk,al Nanos e ritorno al Caven. La parte generalmente più facile del volo con tanti atterraggi a disposizione e la possibilità di far quota di sicurezza prima di attraversare la zona non atterrabile del Caven con vento in coda.
Contattatemi pure se avete bisogno di una guida di volo in zona.

A tipycal route in Lijak-Kovk and Nanos site. In this first part of the clip you see the leg from Lijak to Nanos. Normally is the easyest part of the flight with many emergency landings available and the possibility to pass through the no landing area of Caven with good heights and backwind.

Video lungo per presentare zone di volo in delta. Comincio col farvi vedere la mia zona di volo abituale, in Slovenia, a ridosso del confine italiano. Il percorso pedemontano comprende il monte Lijak, il Kovk, ed il Nanos. Un triangolo di una novantina di kilometri che poi può essere esteso sui vari lati con delle varianti. In questa parte del video si vede il ritorno dal Kovk al Lijak, passando sottovento al Caven, la parte più impegnativa e tecnica del percorso che non sempre si riesce a chiudere.

A typical route in Lijak-Kovk and Nanos site. In this second part of the clip you see the backleg from Kovk to Lijak. The most difficult and technical part of the trak, due to a glide downwind to Caven and because you have normally to pass this part of the flight with strong frontal venturi winds and few possibilities to land safely.

IMPORTANT WARNING!!!

Due to many idiots and dangerous paraglider pilots from Poland and Czechoslovackia that in the past months produced very dangerous situations landing on the Aidovscina airfield runway, or crossing it at very low altitude risking collisions with ULM and gliders in landing approach or taking off, now IT IS ABSOLUTELY FORBIDDEN TO LAND in the airfield.

If you land in the airfield you will be reported immediatly to local police....and you'll pay conseguences for it.

If strictly necessary, use to land the emergency fields nearby the airfield and don't cross it anyway.

Thanks again to many idiots that come here to ruin our skyies.

By the way, I wanna tell you, all hang glider pilots that it's the time for the end season meetings!!!

We made the first one in Sauris last week end............and it was marvellous!!!!!!

Look in my sunglasses!!!! ;)

We had 2 sunny days, great music in landing area (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin.....) 2 hundred kilos of meat for grill, liters and liters of beer, many hang gliders and paragliders, and over all, a great group of friends ;)

The first day was good for party because of an inversion in the air....... but the second day it was incredible!!!!!

Base of the clouds at 2600 ASL, strong thermals (+7) and cold crystal air to contemplate a great place to fly!!!!

SAURIS valley.

We hope to fly with you there the next year.

But before, if you want and if the weather will be good, we have other two meetings.

The first in Sexten (Sesto). Find it on google hearth.

The date is 6-7 october 2007, on mt. Helm.

The meeting is organized by Cumulus Club Sexten.

After that, we'll organize the meeting "Party of the bad weather" in Cercivento (Udine).

In italy near the border with Austria, only 40 minutes, or less, from Greifenburg.

Wonderfull Carnian alps with peaks over 2600m to discover for you ;)

The date is 20-21 october 2007.

What a great day guys!!!

On the Lijak site we found 15 austrian hang gliders (mixed fai5 and fai1) and the weather seemed to be great.

Crystal air, a little inversion since 800 m ASL, then a convergence of winds.

The thermic breeze from south west and the typical continental north east.....and the Lijak plateau in the middle!!!

Yeahhhhhhhh.....base cloud at 2900m ASL, very cold after 2000 and many many hang gliders and paragliders writing their lirycs in the air....... but with a lot of space for all ;)
